Thank you so much for this awesome information! So many great resources and ideas. I’ve been wanting to get my lawn and back yard pollinator friendly for a long time, and this may finally be what gets me to do it. 💚
Eugene -- you have absolutely made my day!!! Thank you for sharing that with me, and keep me posted on any questions you have or updates you want to share! So, so exciting!
Love it! You will be my first stop for questions and to share my progress! My front yard will be the toughest, as I live right on a residential street and live in the desert of southeastern Washington State. I’ve been wanting to get rid of my lawn for so long. I do have some local resources for helping with that and I’m ready to reach out to them for assistance as well.
That's such a great place to start, Eugene; I'm so glad to hear there are local resources. Here in CA, the state provides services / funding to turn lawns into native habitats. Sounds like you have something similar there?
Yes, there is a grant funded program called The Heritage Garden Program where they come to your home and provide a list of native and drought tolerant plants and even help you with a layout for your yard. I would think this would be a helpful starting point. Especially for the front yard, where aesthetics are a little more of a priority.
